An Updated Christmas Tradition

You remember seeing those movies and TV shows where the happy family jumps into the car and drives to some absurd place to choose the "perfect family Christmas tree?" (as if there is one!) Then they all lovingly and full of smiles, attach it to the family station wagon and drive home?
Well Dan and I have found a different sort of tradition- perhaps a little updated for the times. You go to the local supermarket (superstore works great!), purchase your lovely tree, then switch it for another lovely tree and then decide that the next tree isn't bushy enough and finally decided on the seventh tree, which happens to be the original tree you purchased and fling it over your shoulders and carry it home.
Dan and I have started our own Christmas tradition (with many thanks to Jenny for the brilliant idea last year, and the help to carry it home!). We have decided that we will walk to superstore (or any other supermarket) and carry our Christmas tree home over our shoulders! You get quite a few funny looks, a couple smiles and one "you just made my day, you guys are hilarious."
I like it. It's fun and its tradition. Plus, its makes it feel like the good ol' dysfunctional family Christmas that i long for. There aren't all smiles, but there are a few. There isn't just happy chatter, but a few arguments. There isn't just happiness in every one's eyes, but a few stern glances. I guess we're just humans, and i like it.
