The Idiosyncrasies of Camp Life
Dan and I spent a few days camping at Alouette lake. But a few things struck me as add when we were camping.
-Why do we lock our doors at home and sometimes we set an alarm, yet when we are camping, we will leave our tents unattended for hours at a time? The trust that we have when we are camping astounds me.
-When we mail a letter and put it in the mailbox, we often check the box to see if the mail when all the way down. Why do we double check our mail, but never double check to see if our valuables are missing?
Why do we wash our food if it falls in the sink or on the floor at home, but when food falls in the dirt while camping, we just pick it up and eat it?
Why are we obsessive compulsive about hand washing at home, but are okay with "washing" our hands in a dirty river or stream while camping?
WHo knows? I just think its funny that we trust our neighbours while camping for a few days, but not where we live almost every day of the year.
